Welcoming 2026
A Year of Growth, Confidence, and Voice.
As we step into 2026, we want to begin with one simple but heartfelt message: Thank you.
To our parents and guardians, thank you for trusting us with your children’s reading journeys. Your commitment, encouragement, and partnership made 2025 a truly successful year for our Kids Book Club. We are proud to have seen many of our children confidently progress to the next reading levels, grow in comprehension, and develop a genuine love for books.
To our volunteer facilitators, your passion, creativity, and dedication are the heartbeat of our sessions. You make learning joyful, engaging, and meaningful, and we are deeply grateful for the time and care you pour into every child.
Looking Back at a Successful 2025
Last year reminded us why reading communities matter.
Through shared stories, discussions, and guided activities, our children did more than read, they learned to think, express themselves, and believe in their abilities. Watching their confidence grow has been our greatest reward.
Our 2026 Theme: Public Speaking
This year, our focus is on Public Speaking. We will be helping children find their voices and express their ideas with clarity, confidence, and courage.
Public speaking is not just about standing in front of an audience. It is about:
- Communicating thoughts clearly
- Listening respectfully to others
- Building self-confidence
- Developing leadership and critical thinking skills
How We Will Nurture Public Speaking Through Our Book Club
Our book club provides a safe, supportive environment where children can practice speaking naturally and joyfully. Some of the ways we will encourage public speaking include:
- Guided Introductions: Simple self-introductions to help younger children speak comfortably about themselves.
- Book Presentations: Children share summaries, favorite characters, or lessons learned from books they read.
- Story Retelling: Retelling stories in their own words to improve fluency and confidence.
- Mini Speeches: Short, age-appropriate speeches on familiar topics to build courage gradually.
- Debates and Group Discussions: Encouraging older children to respectfully share opinions and defend ideas.
- Role Play and Dramatic Reading: Bringing characters to life through expressive reading and performance.
- Peer Feedback: Learning how to give and receive positive, constructive feedback.
These activities are designed to be fun, inclusive, and pressure-free, allowing every child to grow at their own pace.
What’s Planned for 2026
We are excited about the year ahead and the enriching experiences we have planned:
- Online Monthly Kids Book Club (Launching February 2026):
For children who are not enrolled in our physical book clubs in Nairobi and Nanyuki, this new option allows families from anywhere to join our reading community. - Educational Tour (August & November):
Expanding learning beyond books through real-world experiences. - Holiday Program- Online (July, August ,November & December):
A creative and engaging way to keep children learning during the holidays. - Writing Mentorship Program:
Our Writing Mentorship Cohort 1 will be finalizing their books in the first quarter of the year, a milestone we are incredibly proud of. We look forward to welcoming new mentees in the second half of 2026. - Teens Book Club:
We invite parents with teenagers to enroll them in our Teens Book Club for continuity in reading culture, deeper discussions, and more dynamic engagement with literature.
Looking Ahead
We are hopeful, inspired, and excited about what 2026 holds. With your continued support, we look forward to nurturing confident readers, thoughtful speakers, and lifelong learners.
If you are a parent looking for a warm, enriching environment where your child can grow academically, socially, and confidently, we invite you to join our Kids Book Club community.
Here’s to an even better year of reading, learning, and raising confident voices together.
