Launch of Africa kids book club- 2018

Africa Kids Book Club  was founded in April 2017 to introduce and nurture a reading to children between the age of 4 to 14 years.

As an social enterprise , we believe that reading is food to the brain and when introduced at a young age, the children will be in a better place to develop a good reading habit and enjoy learning at school.

We wanted to highlight that reading can be fun and cool for children as a past time activity. Therefore to celebrate our first anniversary, we decided to organize a fun day for kids as we officially launched the reading club.

The Launch was held at the Hub Mall ,and was well attended with support from our partners and sponsors that included ;

  • Bank of Africa Kenya (our event sponsor)
  • East Africa Educational Publishers
  • Phoenix Publishers
  • Nation Media (Junior Spot magazine)
  • Tropical Heat
  • Century Imax
  • Dairy Land Ice-cream
  • Amber Clinic

2019 Book Fair

After a successful launch of Africa Kids Book Club, we felt that there was a need to give children an event where they can have fun and learn at the same time. Therefore, In 2019  we organized the first Kids fair in Nairobi.

Annual Kids Book Fair is a one day fun event that  draws together children, parents, publishers, schools and other players in the education space.

Our goals for hosting this event are;

  • To encourage children to embrace a reading culture at an early age.
  • To emphasize that learning can be fun through different activities such as board games, spelling competitions, art & crafts, STEM , among other activities.
  • To bring together stakeholders who are promoting reading & learning for children where they showcase their products and services. Parents get to buy books and learning materials at discounted rates during the book fair.
  • To provide a community where children can nurture their reading, writing and public speaking skills in a safe space through Africa Kids Book Club .

The Annual Kids Book fair was held at St. Mary’s School in Lavington and was well attended by children from 46 different schools in Nairobi  and its environs.

The events’ partners and sponsors included :

  • East Africa Educational Publishers
  • CLC Kenya
  • Nation Media ( Junior Spot magazine)
